Race report – Burford Bolt 2018

The 3rd running of the Burford Bolt was the best yet with record numbers. Starting and finishing at Burford School, the mixed terrain race, heads up into the fields and and woods around Marlow Bottom. In addition to the 10km, there is a 5km and children’s fun run.

The race has a real ‘community feel’ with a lot of local businesses involved. Olympian and ‘celebrity trainer’ and Marlow resident, Greg Whyte’ started the race and presented the prizes. Great Britain international Pippa Woolven is on the comeback trail and fancied a run out. It took a very good club runner in Fabian Downs to stop her winning the race out right! Pippa wasnt the only international in action. 2nd lady was Amber Gascoigne, a former GB cross country international.

However, the real success of the race was to attract all types of runner. Behind the stars were a lot of local club runners and then a lot of runners doing their first race. A big well done to Sam Amend and Burford School.
